Walls, trim and exteriors
Duluth Interior & Exterior Painting
Paint a few rooms, the cabinets or the outside of the house as its own job, or as the last stage of a larger remodel run by the same team.

Most Paint Failures Start Under the Paint
Paint that peels or looks patchy within a year was usually applied over dirt, gloss or loose old coats. Washing, scraping, filling, sanding and spot-priming take real time, and the schedule gives it to them before any color goes on.
Painting can stand alone, or it can close out a kitchen, basement or whole-home project. When it is part of a bigger remodel, the painters work from the same contract and the same schedule as every other trade.
What Gets Painted
-
Rooms and ceilings
Patched drywall, hairline cracks and old water marks get repaired and primed first, so new color covers evenly instead of showing every flaw.
-
Trim, doors and cabinets
Baseboards, casing, doors and kitchen cabinets degreased and scuff-sanded, then finished in a harder enamel that stands up to hands and knocks.
-
Exterior surfaces
On the outside, loose and flaking paint comes off down to a firm edge, bare wood gets primer and open joints get caulk before any finish coat.
Worth Knowing Before You Paint
-
Houses built before 1978
Layers under the current paint may contain lead. If so, sanding and scraping follow lead-safe practices with containment and careful cleanup, which affects time and cost.
-
Timing outside
Outdoor coats need dry wood and moderate weather to bond and cure, so exterior work follows the forecast rather than a date circled months ahead.
-
Color samples
Test colors on the actual walls and look at them in morning and evening light; store lighting and small paper chips are often misleading.
Common Painting Questions
Do you move the furniture?
We shift furniture to the middle of the room and cover it. Fragile or valuable pieces are best moved by you beforehand, and floors stay covered throughout the job.
Can painting be added to a larger remodel?
Yes. It often makes sense to repaint adjoining rooms while a kitchen or basement is underway, since the same contract and schedule already cover the work.
Rooms Looking Tired?
Count the rooms, note any trim or cabinets on the list and mention whether the outside needs attention too. We will talk through prep, scheduling and what drives the cost.
